Project Objectives

Developing an innovative model for Economic evaluation

For the economic evaluation of possible welfare benefits of platform interoperability and flexibility standardization, an aggregator simulation model, a network and a market model of intraday and balancing markets and redispatch including the common grid model will be developed. The result will allow to measure the welfare effects in each country and the whole DACH-region.

Building a standardized framework for interoperable flexibility platforms

A use case of cross-border and cross-platform coordination of flexibility for redispatch, balancing and intraday markets is considered. It includes the results of an evaluation of prototypes as well as existing flexibility platforms with a broad stakeholder participation. Standardizing flexibility requirements will be achieved by identifying flexibility attributes and properties of multiple markets and determining how flexibility can be deployed more efficiently through standardization.

Technical testing and evaluation in a field test

Project partners will implement the standardized framework for interoperable flexibility platforms based on the defined use case in a field test. Therefore, we intend to integrate the redispatch platforms DA/RE of TransnetBW and the balancing platform Flex-Hub of APG. A major challenge in the implementation is the definition and development of a common grid model. Test scenarios for technical evaluation are developed with a special focus on resilience, cyber security, and data security.

Knowledge Creation and Transfer

To emphasize the high relevance of the conducted research, a focus on the promotion of knowledge transfer in flexibility issues is incorporated through the project. The dissemination of the project on workshops, conferences and committee work is complemented by establishing a network for flexibility issues within the DACH-region and beyond, integrating all relevant stakeholders like TSO/ DSO, aggregators, associations, or regulators.
